Having just started blogging with Wordpress, I had to do a lot of research to determine what is needed for web hosting. After many discussions I was advised to join Wordpress at .org and not .com as. although a domain name and hosting is free at .com, apparently you do not have so much control over your blogs/websites as you do if you organise your own website hosting.
What I found is there are thousands of webhosting sites our there although many of them don't make it easy to install Wordpress and with me being a virtual novice I knew that I needed a hosting company that would install Wordpress easily. The one I chose is Bluehost with it's one-click wordpress installation and it's instant support, not by email, but by instant chat online.
Apparently Bluehost is the one recommended by Wordpress itself so I knew I had made the right choice and they have been extremely helpful from day one. Although it is shared hosting there package includes unlimited use. With a free domain of your choice and the package at $6.95 monthly - a good deal all round!
